After moving across the country, my wife, Brittany, and I struggled, as many neurodivergent people do, to make new friends. We’re lifelong tabletop players and thought we’d join a local group to meet new people. The only problem? Showing up to scheduled sessions felt more daunting than facing the five-headed dragon Tiamat in real life. But we finally showed up—and discovered rare and precious loot: a welcoming and safe environment.

The group wasn’t just about rolling dice and fighting monsters—they welcomed us and encouraged us to be ourselves, even as strangers. For the first time in years, we didn’t feel like we needed to mask; we could just be ourselves without explaining, apologizing, or pretending.

If you’re here, you or a loved one have probably felt the same way, and let’s be honest, that feeling sucks. That’s why we created Divergent Realms: a safe place where we, the neurodivergent, can exist as we are. We have one fundamental rule here: Be your authentic true self and accept others doing the same. Because we genuinely believe every neurodivergent story is a hero’s story.
